Field Surveying Exercises  (semester 8)

Last update: September 13, 2019

Course Info

This is a field-based course aiming to expose students to standard surveying practice and related procedures, including land mapping and boundary surveying, observation and adjustment of GPS and terrestrial positioning networks, spatial coordinate transformations, height determination techniques, and establishment of ground control points at prior known locations.

The fieldwork covers a ten-day period and it starts right before the begining of the fall semester, approximatelly at the end of September in each academic year.

Before and after the fieldwork, a number of seminars will be given to students to familiarize them with the used instrumentation and required field procedures, as well as with the computational methodology for the data processing, and the technical analysis and visualization of their results.

During the fall semester, and well before the final examination of the course, the students can schedule additional meetings with the course's instructors to discuss the progress of their work.
