Welcome!

Dr. Christopher Kotsakis joined the Department of Geodesy and Surveying in the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering (SRSE) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in June 2004. Currently, he holds a full Professor position in the field of space and terrestrial geodetic data analysis for multiscale Earth mapping and monitoring, and he is the Director of Graduate Studies at SRSE. Prior to his appointment, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher and Assistant Professor in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary where he was involved in several research projects within the Geomatics for Informed Decisions (GEOIDE) Network of Canadian Research Excellence Centres.

His main research interests include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

Inverse problems, estimation theory and optimization techniques
    Geodetic reference systems and frames
Physical geodesy and height systems theory
    Network-based geodetic applications
    Deformation analysis with geodetic techniques
    Spatio-temporal data analysis in geomatics
    Geostatistics and signal detection problems

CK has published more than 90 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings and has received several awards for his research and teaching work. He is an elected Fellow of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) and he has served as a member of the international editorial board of Journal of Geodesy for the period 2007-2015.
