1. Academic Activities

- Throughout the academic years 2004-2021 Prof. George Martzelos participated in the following  Conferences:

i) The International Conference sponsored by the Roman Catholic University Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum between 3-4 March 2005 in Rome, the primary topic of which was “Original Sin: An Interdisciplinary Perspective”, where he presented on the topic “Original Sin in the Orthodox Tradition”.

 

 

 

 

 

ii) The 3rd International Patrological Conference, sponsored by the Roman Catholic Pro Oriente Foundation between 23-26 June 2005 in Luxembourg, the main theme of which was “The Mystery of God, of Creator and Father” (“Das Geheimnis Gottes, Schöpfer und Vater”), where he presented on the topic “Die Freiheit des Gott-Vaters als trinitätstheologisches Problem in der griechisch-patristischen Überlieferung”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

iii) The 13th International Ecumenical Conference, which was hosted by the monastic brotherhood in Bose, Italy, between 11-13 September 2005, the main theme of which was “St. John Damascene: A Father at the beginning of Islam”, where he presented on the topic “Divine Incarnation as the Center of the Theology of St. John Damascene”.

iv) The International Mariology Conference which was organized by the Roman Catholic Pro Oriente Foundation in conjunction with Salzburger Raiffeisen Bank between 7-8 October 2005 in Salzburg, Austria, the main theme of which was “Toward a Search for the Soul of Europe: The Piety for Theotokos-Mary in the Faith of the Peoples in the East and West” (“Auf der Suche nach der Seele Europas. Marienfrömmigkeit im Glauben der Völker in Ost und West, where he presented on the topic “Die Mariologie des Basileios von Seleukeia und Romanos der Melode”.

 

v) The 14th  Roman Catholic and Orthodox Conference (XIV Colloquio Cattolico-Ortodosso), which was organized in Bari, Italy, by the St. Nicholas Institute of Ecumenical and Byzantine Patristic Theology in collaboration with the P. Salvatore Manna Ecumenical Center, between 10-11 May 2006, the main theme of which was “The Catholic-Orthodox Theological Dialogue between Memory and Prophecy”, where he presented on the topic “Gli esiti del dialogo nella Chiesa ortodossa.”

vi) The Two-day Scientific Conference, which was organized in Edessa, Greece, by the Holy Diocese of Edessa, Pella and Almopia between 23-24 September 2006, the main theme of which was “Memory of the Metropolitan Panteleimon Papageorgiou. Remembrances from his life, his work and his witness”, where he presented on the topic “Theology and ecumenical Perspective of the Metropolitan Panteleimon Papageorgiou”.

vii) The 4th International Patrological Conference, sponsored by the Roman Catholic Pro Oriente Foundation between 27-30 June 2007 in Sibiu of Rumania (Monastery of Brancoveanu), the main theme of which was “The Unity and the Catholicity of the Church” (“L'Unité et la Catholicité de l'Eglise/Die Einheit und die Katholizität der Kirche”), where he presented on the topic “Einheit und Katholizität der Kirche im theologischen Dialog der Orthodoxen mit der Römisch-Katholischen Kirche”.

viii) The 16th International Ecumenical Conference, which was hosted by the monastic brotherhood in Bose, Italy, between 18-21 September 2005, the main theme of which was “Spiritual Paternity in the Orthodox Tradition”, where he presented on the topic “Basil of Caesarea as an Example of  Spiritual Father”.

ix) The Scientific Meeting, which was organized  by the Department of Theology of the Aristotle University on the 20th of May 2009 in Thessalonica, the main theme of which was “The theological Dialogue between the Orthodox and the Roman-catholic Church”, where he presented on the topic “The interesting theological points of the Ravenna Document from an orthodox point of view”.

x) The Inter-Christian Conference, which was organized between 3-5 September 2009 in Rome (Italy) by the University "Ateneum Antonianum" of Rome in cooperation with the Theological Department of the Aristotle University of Thessalonica, the main theme of which was St. Augustine in the western and eastern tradition”, where he presented on the topic “Mind and Will according to St. Augustine and the eastern patristic tradition”.

xi) The 5th International Patrological Conference, sponsored by the Roman Catholic Pro Oriente Foundation between 22-26 September 2009 in the Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Thessalonica, the main theme of which was “The Holiness and the Apostolicity of the Church” (“La Sainteté et l'Apostolicité de l'Eglise/Die Heiligkeit und die Apostolizität der Kirche”), where he presented on the topic “Die Apostolizität der Kirche im theologischen Dialog der Orthodoxen mit der Römisch-Katholischen Kirche”.

xii) The International Symposium, which was organized between 21-21 May 2010 in the Theological Faculty of the Aristotle University of Thessalonica by the Department of Theology and the Saint George Peristereota Research Centre, the main theme of which was “Inter-Faith Dialogue, human rights and religious presence in Turkey”, where he presented on the topic “Orthodoxy and Inter-religious Dialogue”.

xiii) The Seminar, organized between 15-18 September 2010 in Thessalonica by the Christ-Catholic Department of the Theological Faculty of the University of Bern in cooperation with the Patriarchal Institute for Patristic Studies and the Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Thessalonica, the main theme of which was “The Responsibility of Church and Theology in the Post-Modernity” (“Die Verantwortung von Theologie und Kirche in der Postmoderne”), where he presented on the topic “Die Rolle der "kontextuellen Theologie" in unserer Zeit nach orthodoxer Auffassung”.

xiv) The International Conference, which was organized by the Volos Akademy for Theological Studies of the Holy Diocese of Demetrias and Almyros, in collaboration with the Orthodox Christian Studies Program of Fordham University, the Chair of Orthodox Theology of Münster University and the Romanian Institute for Inter-Orthodox, Inter-Confessional and Inter-Religious Studies (INTER) Cluj-Napoca, between 3-6 June 2010 in the Thessalia Conference Center, (Melissiatika) Volos, the main theme of which was "Neo-patristic Synthesis" or "Post-patristic Theology"? Can Orthodox Theology be contextual?, where he presented on the topic “The role of Contextual Theology in the Orthodox Tradition”.

xv) The International Scientific Symposium “Christian Thessalonica”,, which was organized between 21-23 Oktober 2010 in the frame of the 45th Feast of Demetria by the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Vlatadon and the Municipality of Thessalonica on the subject The Movement of Zealots and Christian Thessalonica in the 14th Century, where he presented on the topic “The theological and ecclesiastical climate of Thessalonica in the 14th Century and the Zealots' Movement”.

xvi) The Theological Conference which was organized between 12-13 March 2011 by the Holy Diocese of Thessalonica “for the holy memory and honor of  the St Gregorios Palamas, Archbishop of Thessalonica”, where he presented the topic “The Holy Spirit as the "secret Eros" between Father and Son according to St Gregorios Palamas”.

xvii) The Scientific Two-day Conference which was organized between 21-22 March 2011 by the Deanery of the Theological Faculty of AUTh in cooperation with the Association of graduate Students of the Department of Theology of AUTh, the main theme of which was “Modern Ecclesiastical problems”, where he presented the topic “The Ideological and the Ecclesial Dimension of Orthodoxy: The Actuality of a Traditional Notion” (in Greek).

xviii) The Theological Conference which was organized between 3-7 April 2011 in Thessalonica by the World Council of Churches and the Department of Theology of the Theological Faculty of AUTh, the main theme of which was “Orthodox Ecclesiology and the Challenges of the Ecumenical Movement. An Inter-Faculty Pilot Study Project”, where he presented the topic “The Ideological and the Ecclesial Dimension of Orthodoxy: The Actuality of a Traditional Notion”.

xix) The Theological Conference which was organized between 19-20 May 2011 in Thessalonica by the Institute “Goethe” and the Association of Post-graduate Students of AUTh “Apostle Jason, the Thessalonian”, the main theme of which was “Am Anfang war das Wort: Wechselseitige Beziehungen und Einflüsse zwischen der deutsch- und der griechischsprachigen Theologie in der Zeit der Krise (In the beginning was the Word: Mutual relations and influences between the german speaking and the greek speaking Theology in the time of crisis)”, where he presented the topic: “Der Heilige Gregorios Palamas und die neuere deutschsprachige Theologie (St Gregorios Palamas and the new german speaking Theology)”.

xx) The International Conference which was organized between 16-18 June 2011 in the Otto-Friedrich-University of Bamberg by the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Forschungsquelle für Öffentliche Theologie in cooperation with the Trinitas Institut (Internationales Ökumenisches Forschungszentrum für Orthodoxe Theologie und Kultur), the main theme of which was “Ökumene und Orthodoxie in Europa (Ecumene and Orthodoxy in Europe)”, where he presented the topic: “Die "kontextuelle Theologie" der Orthodoxie und ihre Rolle in den ökumenischen Herausforderungen unserer Zeit (The "contextual Theology" of Orthodoxy and its role in the Ecumenical Challenges of our time)”.

xxi) The III. International Conference of Orthodox Dogmatic Theologians which was organized between 23-26 June 2011 in Thessalonica by the International Association of Orthodox Dogmatic Theologians (IAODT) and the Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Thessalonica in collaboration with the bulletin “Contacts Revue Française de l' Orthodoxie”, the main theme of which was “The function and the limits of reason in Dogmatic Theology”, where he presented the topic: “Vernunft und Offenbarung in der Theologie Luthers und in der Orthodoxen Überlieferung (Reason and Revelation according to Luther and to Orthodox Tradition)”.

xxii) The International Conference which was organized by the Volos Akademy for Theological Studies of the Holy Diocese of Demetrias and Almyros between 28-30-2011 in the Thessalia Conference Center, (Melissiatika) Volos, the main theme of which was “Metropolitan of Pergamon John Zizioulas. Person, Eucharist and the Kingdom of God in Orthodox and Ecumenical Perspective”, where he presented on the topic The ecclesiological thought of the Metropolitan of Pergamon in the context of the ecumenical inter-Christian dialogue”.

xxiii) The International Conference which was organized by the Christ-Catholic Department of the Theological Faculty of the University of Bern between 23-25 November 2011 in Bern, the main theme of which was Interreligious Relations and Theological Reflection: Ecumenical Overview and Issues» («Interreligiöse Beziehungen und theologische Reflektion: Ökumenischer Überblick und Fragen»)”, where he presented on the topic Interreligiöses Engagement aus Sicht orthodoxer Theologie”.

xxiv) The International Conference which was organized by the University Ecclesiastical Academy of Thessalonica, in association with the Patriarchal Institute for Patristic Studies in Thessalonica, the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies of the Cambridge University, the Friends of Mount Athos in UK and USA and the Holy  Dioceses of a)  Thessalonica, b) Beroia, Naousa and Campania, c) Neapolis and Stavroupolis and d) Langada, Liti and Rentina, between 7-15 March 2012 under the central issue St Gregory Palamas: The Theological and Philosophical Significance of his work”, where he presented on the topic “The Holy Spirit as "ineffable love" between Father and Son according to St Gregory Palamas”.

xxv) The International Inter-religious Conference which was organized  by the Goethe-Institute and the Association of Post-graduate Students of AUTh “Apostle Jason, the Thessalonian” between 31 March and 1 June 2012 in Thessalonica under the main issue “"I am who I am": The abrahamitic Religions and their responsibility for the World / "Ich bin der ich bin": Die abrahamitischen Religionen und ihre Verantwortung für die Welt”, where he presented on the topic “Der interreligiöse Dialog in der orthodoxen Theologie und Kirche”.

xxvi) The International Patristic Conference which was organized  by Prof. Dr. Theresia Hainthaler in association with the Bishop Dr. Athanaz Orosz in Saint Adalbert Conference Center of Esztergom/Hungary between 3-5 October 2012 under the main issue "For us and for our Salvation": Soteriology in East and West / "Pour nous et pour notre salut": Soteriologie vue de l'Orient et de l'Occident”, where he presented on the topic “Ursünde und Erlösung nach den griechischen Kirchenvätern”.

xxvii) The Theological Conference which was organized by the University Ecclesiastical Academy of Crete between 12-13 November 2012 in Heraklion under the main issue “The peace and Justice of God as a model of life in modern society”, where he presented on the topic “The inter-religious Initiatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the domination of Peace and Justice”.

xxviii) The Ecumenical Symposium which was organized by the Theological Department of the AUTH in honor of the retired colleague Petros Vassileiadis between 14-15 January 2013 under the main issue: «The Ecumenical Dialogue in the 21st Century: Factuality - Challenges - Perspectives», where he presented on the topic: «The matter of participation of the Orthodox Church in the Ecumenical Dialogue in the light of the pan-orthodox decisions».

xxix) The Scientific One-day Conference which was organized by the Holy Regional Synod of the Church of Crete on the 18th of May 2013 for the completion of 50 years since the Ecumenical Patriarch of blessed memory Athenagoras had visited the Church of Crete and for the 47th anniversary of the return of Apostle Titus' (the first Bishop of Crete) Holy Head, where he presented on the topic “The Theological Dialogues today - their message, value and perspective”.  

xxx) The International Inter-religious Symposium which was organized between 14-15 June 2013 in Thessalonica by the Department of Theology of AUTH in collaboration with the Theological Faculty of Holy Cross in Boston and the Center for Ecumenical, Missionary and Environmental Studies "Metropolitan of Thessaloniki Panteleimon Papageorgiou" under the main issue «An Orthodox Approach for a Theology of Religions», where he presented on the topic: «The theology of "logos spermaticos" and its meaning for the inter-christian and inter-religious Dialogues».

xxxi) The IV. International Conference of Orthodox Dogmatic Theologians which was organized between 22-25 September 2013 in Sofia/Bulgaria, the main theme of which was “Dogma and Terminology in the Orthodox Tradition today”, where he presented the topic: “The origin of the dyo-physite formula in the Definition of Chalcedon”.

xxxii) The 21st Anniversary General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy which was held  between 25-30 of June 2014 in Moscow, the central subject of which was “Parliamentary Democracy - Christianity - Orthodoxy: values and concepts”, where he presented the topic “The necessity of the Holy and Great Synod to address contemporary challenges”.

xxxiii) The I. Scientific Symposium of the series “Orthodoxy and Ecumene” which was organized between 14-15 November 2014 in Thessalonica by the Royal and Patriarchal Holy Monastery of Vlatadon in collaboration with the Patriarchal Foundation of Patristic Studies and the Theological Faculty of AUTH under the main issue «St Cosmas Aitolos and the theological principles of his work. An Anniversary: 1714-2014», where he presented on the topic: «Theology and Life in the "Teachings" of Cosmas Aitolos».

xxxiv) The II. Scientific Symposium of the series “Orthodoxy and Ecumene” which was organized between 3-5 December 2015 in Thessalonica by the Royal and Patriarchal Holy Monastery of Vlatadon in collaboration with the Patriarchal Foundation of Patristic Studies and the Theological Faculty of AUTH under the main issue «Towards the Holy and Great Synod», where he presented on the topic: «The necessity of the Holy and Great Synod of the Orthodox Church to address the modern challenges».

xxxv) The Scientific Symposium which was organized between 15-16 May 2016 in Herakleion by the Neapolis University Paphos in collaboration with the Patriarchal University Ecclesiastical Academy of Crete under the main issue «In the view of the Holy and Great Synod», where he presented on the topic: «The necessity of the Holy and Great Synod of the Orthodox Church to address the modern challenges».

xxxvi) The International Conference which was organized by the Department of Theology of AUTH on 19. May 2016 in the framework of the “Week of Theological Word and Art” under the main issue “The responsibility of the Orthodox Church for Reconciliation”, where he presented on the topic “The Contribution of Prof. Gregory Larentzakis in the discussion of the Roman Document concerning the Procession of the Holy Spirit in the Greek and Latin Traditions (Vienna 1998)”.

xxxvii) The Scientific One-day Conference which was organized on 10. November 2016 in Thessalonica by the Royal and Patriarchal Holy Monastery of Vlatadon in collaboration with the Patriarchal Foundation of Patristic Studies and the Theological Faculty of AUTH under the main issue «After the Holy and Great Synod», where he presented on the topic: «The text of the 5. Pre-Conciliar Pan-Orthodox Conference on the "Relations of the Orthodox Church with the Rest of the Christian World" and the Holy and Great Synod».

xxxviii) The 9th International Patristic Colloquy of Orthodox and Roman-Catholic Theologians of Europe which took place from 12 to 14 September 2019 in Lviv/Ukraine on the main topic «Imago Dei», where he presented on the topic «Vernunft und Wille als Bestandteile des "Ebenbildes Gottes" im Menschen in der griechischen und lateinischen Tradition».

xxxix) The Spiritual Symposium of XXVI Pavleia of the Holy Diocese of Veria, Naoussa and Campania that took place between 20-21 June 2020 in Veria on the main issue «Gospel and ethos according to the Apostle Paul», where he presented on the topic «Doctrine and ethos in the patristic tradition».

xl) The 10th International Patristic Colloquy of Orthodox and Roman-Catholic Theologians of Europe which took place from 15 to 19 September 2021 in Vienna/Austria on the main topic «Inherited sin?», where he presented on the topic «The concept of inherited sin in the Orthodox Tradition».

xli) The international and inter-confessional digital Conference held on 10 November 2021 for the presentation of the Honorary Volume "Ökumene ist keine Häresie Theologische Beiträge zu einer ökumenischen Kultur" (Brill / Ferdinand Schöningh Verlag, Paderborn 2021) in honour of His Eminence the Metropolitan Augustinos of Germany, where he presented the topic Der Begriff "Logos spermatikos" in der Theologie Justins und seine Bedeutung für den inter-religiösen Dialog”.

 

-  Throughout the academic years 2006-2021 Prof. George Martzelos gave Lectures in the following Universities: 

i)  During the winter semester of 2006-2007, from 8 January to 10 February, he taught a synoptic course in Dogmatics at the Department of Orthodox Theology at the University of Munich. The course covered the following topic: “Der orthodoxe Glaube gestern and heute: Dogmengeschichtliche und geistliche Voraussetzungen der orthodoxen Dogmatik (bes. Der Trinitätstheologie und der Christologie) und ihre philosophische und ökumenische Aktualität” (“The Orthodox Faith yesterday and today: Historico-dogmatic and spiritual presuppositions of the Orthodox Dogmatics (esp. of Triadology and Chistology) and its philosophical and ecumenical Actuality”).

ii)  During the summer semester of 2007, from 25 May to 15 June, he taught a synoptic course in Dogmatics at the  Old Catholic and Evangelical Faculty of Theology (Christkatholische und Evangelische Fakultät) in the University of Bern (Switzerland). The course covered also the topic: “Der orthodoxe Glaube gestern and heute: Dogmengeschichtliche und geistliche Voraussetzungen der orthodoxen Dogmatik (bes. Der Trinitätstheologie und der Christologie) und ihre philosophische und ökumenische Aktualität” (“The Orthodox Faith yesterday and today: Historico-dogmatic and spiritual presuppositions of the Orthodox Dogmatics (esp. of Triadology and Chistology) and its philosophical and ecumenical Actuality”).

iii) On Thursday the 7.2.08, after an invitation from the Department of Orthodox Theology at the University of Munich he gave a lecture to the students of the Department on the topic: Einheit und Katholizität der Kirche im theologischen Dialog zwischen der Orthodoxen und der Römisch-katholischen Kirche” (Unity and Katholicity of the Church in the theological Dialogue between the Orthodox and the Roman-catholic Church”).

iv)  During the winter semester of 2009, from 15 September to 17 December, he taught classes in Dogmatics at the Old Catholic and Evangelical Faculty of Theology (Christkatholische und Evangelische Fakultät) in the University of Bern (Switzerland). His lessons covered the main themes: a) Orthodoxe Beiträge zu einer ökumenisch hilfreichen Dogmatik, b) Orthodoxe Initiativen in den theologischen und interreligiösen Dialogen and c) Die spirituelle Bedeutung der Glaubenslehre in orthodoxer Perspektive, according to the Program of Studies of the University of Bern.

v) On Thursday the 10.12.09, after an invitation from the Department of Orthodox Theology at the University of Munich he gave a lecture to the students of the Department on the topic: Die ideologische und die kirchliche Dimension der "Orthodoxie": Die Aktualität einer traditionellen Unterscheidung” (The ideological and the ecclesial dimension of "Orthodoxy": The actuality of a traditional distinction”).

vi) During the summer semester of 2011, from 23 May to 3 June, after an invitation from the Department of Orthodox Theology at the University of Munich, he taught in the above-mentioned Department a synoptic course in Dogmatics. The course covered the topic: Orthodoxe Beiträge zu einer ökumenisch hilfreichen Dogmatik (The Orthodox Contribution to an ecumenically fruitful Dogmatics).

vii) During the winter semester of 2011, from 21 Oktober to 10 December, he taught a synoptic course in Dogmatics at the Old Catholic and Evangelical Faculty of Theology (Christkatholische und Evangelische Fakultät) in the University of Bern (Switzerland). His lessons covered the topic: “Die Orthodoxie in den heutigen theologischen und interreligiösen Dialogen (Orthodoxy in the theological and inter-religious dialogues of today)”.

viii) During the academic year 2012-2013 he teaches the course Dogme et Philosophie chez la tradition orthodoxe” in the framework of the Postgraduate Program of Studies of the Theological Faculty in Kinsasa/Kongo.

ix)  In the feast which was organized by the AUTH in honor of the Three Hierarchs on the 29th January 2013 he presented on the topic: «Theology, Philosophy and Science according to the Three Hierarchs».

x) During the academic year 2013-2014 he taught the course Histoire de la Philosophie grecque” in the framework of the Graduate Program of Studies of the Theological Faculty in Kinsasa/Kongo.

xi) During the winter semester of 2015 he taught the course of Dogmatics in the framework of the Postgraduate Program of Theological Studies of the  “Neapolis” University in Pafos. His lectures covered the topic: Dogma and Philosophy according to the Orthodox Tradition”.

xii) During the winter semester of 2016 he taught the course of Dogmatics in the framework of the Postgraduate Program of Theological Studies of the  “Neapolis” University in Pafos. His lectures covered the topic: Triadology and Christology according to the Orthodox Patristic Tradition”.

xiii) During the winter semester of 2017 he taught the course of Dogmatics in the framework of the Postgraduate Program of Theological Studies of the  “Neapolis” University in Pafos. His lectures covered the topic: Dogma and Philosophy according to the Orthodox Tradition”.

xiv) During the winter semester of 2018 he taught the course of Dogmatics in the framework of the Postgraduate Program of Theological Studies of the  “Neapolis” University in Pafos. His lectures covered the topic: Dogma and Philosophy according to the Orthodox Tradition”.

xv) During the summer semester of 2019 he taught the course of Inter-Christian and Inter-religious Dialogue” in the framework of the Postgraduate Program of Theological Studies of the  “Neapolis” University in Pafos.

xvi) During the summer semester of 2020 he taught the course of Inter-Christian and Inter-religious Dialogue” in the framework of the Postgraduate Program of Theological Studies of the  “Neapolis” University in Pafos.

xvii) During the summer semester of 2021 he taught the course of Inter-Christian and Inter-religious Dialogue” in the framework of the Postgraduate Program of Theological Studies of the  “Neapolis” University in Pafos.

 

2. Ecclesiastical Activities

 

 

a) As a member of the Theological Committee of the Ecumenical Patriarchate he participated in the XIII. Theological Dialogue Meeting between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Evangelical Church of Germany (EKD), which convened 17–21 September 2004 in Constantinople, the topic of discussion being “The Grace of God and the Salvation of the World” where he presented the topic «Die Gnade Gottes als Quelle der Institutionen und Charismen der Kirche gemäß der patristischen Tradition».

 

b) He participated in the Meeting of the Inter-Orthodox Committee concerning the Dialogue between the Orthodox Church and the Non-Chalcedonian Churches, which convened 10–13 March 2005 in Chambésy, Geneva, where he presented on the topics “Orthodoxy and Heresy of the Anti-Chalcedonians according to St. John Damascene” and “Problems and Perspectives of the Theological Dialogue between Orthodox and Non-Chalcedonians”.

c) As a member of the Synodal Committee of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the Theological Dialogue of Orthodox with the Roman Catholic Church, he participated in the regular meeting with the Roman Catholic delegation, which took place on 29 November 2005 at the Phanar, where organizational topics were discussed in view of the resumption of Theological Dialogue which occurred on 18 September in Belgrad.

d) He participated as Councelor of the Delegation of the Church of Greece in the 4th Pre-synodical Pan-Orthodox Meeting which convened 6-13 June 2009 in Chambésy (Geneva).

e) He participated as a member of the Theological Delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the Meeting of the Orthodox and Old-catholic Working Group between 24-26 April 2014 in Amersfoort/Uutrecht of Netherlands, where the Document of the Official Dialogue of the Old-catholic Church/ Union of Utrecht and the Church of Sweden was discussed for the realization of the ecclesial communion between them.

 

 3. Ecumenical Activities

i) He participated as a member of the delegation of the Church of Greece at the 9th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches in Porto Alegre, Brazil (1423 February 2006), where he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the WCC for the following seven-year period.

 

 

 

 

 

ii) He attended the 1st Meeting of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches which occurred between 30 August and 6 September 2006 in Geneva.

iii) He attended the 2nd Meeting of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches which occurred between 13 and 20 February 2008 in Geneva.

iv) He attended the 3rd Meeting of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches which occurred between 26 August and 2 September 2009 in Geneva.

v) As a delegate of the General Secretary of the WCC Rev. Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit he attended the

vi) He attended the 4th Meeting of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches which occurred between 16 and 22 February 2011 in Geneva.

vii) He attended the 5th Meeting of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches which occurred between 28 August and 5 September 2012 in the Orthodox Academy of Crete.

viii) As a delegate of the General Secretary of the WCC Rev. Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit he attended the 5th Meeting of the 11th Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) which was convened from 1 to 7 November in Timmendorfer Strand.

ix) He participated as a member of the delegation of the Church of Greece at the 10th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches in Busan, South Korea (30 October - 8 November 2013).

x) In July 2014 he was elected by the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches  as a member of the Commission on Faith and Order.

xi) As a member of the "Faith and Order" Commission of the WCC participated in the 1. General Commission Meeting between 17-24 June 2015 at the Monastery of Caraiman in  Busteni/Romania.

xii) As a member of the "Faith and Order" Commission of the WCC participated in the Inter-Orthodox Meeting, convened between 7-13 October 2016 at Paralimni in the Diocese of Constantia and Famagusta.

xiii) As a member of the "Faith and Order" Commission of the WCC participated in the Meeting of the special sub-commission 2, convened between 8-12 January 2017 in Bossey of Geneva, to reflect on the Responses referring to the document "The Church: Towards a Common Vision" (Faith and Order Paper No 214).

xiv) As a member of the "Faith and Order" Commission of the WCC participated in the 2. General Commission Meeting between 15-22 June 2017 in Pretoria/South Africa.

xv) As a member of the "Faith and Order" Commission of the WCC participated in the Meeting of the special sub-commission 2, convened between 8-12 January 2018 in Bossey of Geneva, to reflect on the Responses referring to the document "The Church: Towards a Common Vision" (Faith and Order Paper No 214).

xvi) As a member of the "Faith and Order" Commission of the WCC participated in the Meeting of the Study Group 2, convened between 26-30 June 2018 in Pasadena, California (USA).

xvii) As a member of the "Faith and Order" Commission of the WCC participated in the Meeting of the special sub-commission 2, convened between 8-12 January 2019 in Bossey of Geneva, to reflect on the Responses referring to the document "The Church: Towards a Common Vision" (Faith and Order Paper No 214).
