Theodore Laopoulos, is Professor of “Electronic Circuits for Measurement and Control” at the Electronics Lab., Physics Department, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is leading the “Systems for Electronic Measurements and Automation” group which focuses on R&D work in the area of automated electronic measurement circuits and systems. His interests are in the fields of: Instrumentation Circuits and Systems, Electronic Measurement Systems and Techniques, Sensors Interfacing and Sensors networks, Applications of Microcontroller Systems, and Development of Education on Electronic Instrumentation. Dr. Laopoulos has supervised 3 PhDs and many postgraduate and undergraduate theses in related subjects, has co-authored three books (in Greek) and he has published over 140 papers in international scientific journals and conferences. He has served as leader (P.I. or coordinator) in 17 National and European research projects and participated as senior researcher in certain others. Dr. Laopoulos is an IEEE senior member, Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, and former chair (now member) of the Advisory Board of "IDAACS" - International Workshop on "Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems".

He has served as Head of the Physics Dept. (A.U.Th.) for the period 2011-2013, Vice-Head of the Physics Dept (2009-2011), and Director of the Postgraduate Program of Studies on Electronic Physics (Electronics & Telecommunications) 2010-2013.
