Short Biography

George Dimitrakopulos was born in Naousa in 1967.  He obtained his B.Sc. in Physics from the Department of Physics, AUTh, and his M.Sc.(Eng.)  in Advanced Engineering Materials with distinction from the University of Liverpool, UK. He then obtained his Ph.D. with excellence from the Department of Physics, AUTh. The subject of his Ph.D. thesis was "Properties and Models of Homophase and Heterophase Interfaces" and was supervised by Prof. Th. Karakostas.  His main focus is on Transmission Electron Microscopy and associated methods. He studies mainly interfaces, defects, and the nanoscale elastoplastic behaviour. He has participated in more than 20 European and national research projects and had a leading scientist role in 4 projects. He is a peer reviewer in many acknowledged international research journals. Since 2007 he is a faculty member in the Solid State Physics Section, of the Department of Physics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
