Brief resume
Assistant Professor at the School of Journalism and Mass Media Studies of the
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
Since 1997 I am involved in academic research and teaching in collaboration with the Department of Primary Education, the Department of Economics and the Department of Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). During 2001-2002 I taught on contract at the Department of Languages, Literature and Culture of the Black Sea Countries (Demokritos University of Thrace).
In June 2003 I was elected as lecturer on Art and Mass Media in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In March 2009 I was elected as assistant professor on Sociology of the Arts and Mass Communication in the same School, where I teach "Music and Mass Media", "Art and Globalization" (offered also in English for the ERASMUS students), "Mass Communication and the Arts", "Music Industry and Culture" (undergraduate program), "Cultures of Cultural Production and Consumption", and "New Technologies and Cultural Organizations" (postgraduate program).
Since 2006 I collaborate with the Greek Open University as a tutor in the postgraduate program "Cultural Organizations Management" of the School of Social Science (course "Cultural Communication").
I have published 25 articles and papers in the fields of the sociology of culture and the arts, the sociology of music and the sociology of education. I have presented papers at 27 international and local conferences and I have participated in 16 international and local research projects. I also participate in two international and one local research networks. I am a member of the Advisory and of the Editorial Boards of Musicology. Review of Theory and Praxis of Music and webmaster of the journal in cooperation with I. Foulias. I am also a member of the Editorial Review Board of the Scientific Journals International (Communication & Media section), that encourages and supports the open-access model to research literature. I am a member of the European Sociological Association (ESA) and participate in the Research Network for the Sociology of the Arts (RN2), the International Musicological Society, the Hellenic Sociological Association and the Greek Society for Clinical Social Research (related to Research Committee 46 of the International Sociological Association).
