Summer School on

Large-Eddy Simulation of Reacting Flows

organized by the

ERCOFTAC Special Interest Group 28 (SIG28) on Combustion

5-11 September 2004

at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece

This website contains information about the International Summer School organized by the ERCOFTAC SIG28 and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, on the LES of Reacting Flows, September, 5-11, 2004 in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Instructors include Profs. L. Vervisch (Rouen), D. Thevenin (Magdebourg), D. Veynante (Paris), N. Adams (Dresden), S. Menon (Georgia Tech). The summer school is for people from university and industry interested in LES methods in combustion and will have a duration of 5 days.

  NEW!

The Summer School will cover topics (see Flyer and Information) and info on:

  • Introduction to Numerical simulation of reacting flows

  • Turbulence and chemistry interaction

  • DNS of reacting flows

  • Novel LES methods in non-reacting flows

  • LES of premixed and non-premixed             combustion

The summer school will focus on the theory, implementation and model limitations and is intended for researchers, and code developers (Engineers and PhDs) interested in understanding and implementing LES methods for reacting flows, or simply acquiring a better background on the topic. The instructors are experts in DNS, LES and numerical methods, and will present not only the various models and methods but also implementation and efficiency issues.
