The PhD thesis is focused on the development of scientific tools to support Integrated Coastal Management. The numerical models are aiming to evaluate alternative policy choices through different management scenarios, regarding specific sustainability issues. The tools are incorporating environmental and socio-economic aspects of the system under study, and they are designed in a user-friendly way, in order to support deliberations between research, stakeholders and managers, aiming to deliver scientific results in a way that will facilitate efficient policy making. The research is focused on the aquaculture activity of Thermaikos gulf in Greece.
