English for Specific Purposes Coures

What?

The courses, offered at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, aim to introduce students to English as used in science, taking into account the individual characteristics of writing in different science disciplines.
Courses are designed and taught by V. Kazamia for the Faculty of Engineering, the Department of Chemical Engineering, the School of Agriculture and the Department of Informatics.

Where?

School of Agriculture
English I, II, III, IV are compulsory courses credited with ECTS units; they feature a wide variety of topics starting from soil profile moving on to plant diseases, cattle, food processing etc.

Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering
English Language and Terminology I & II are elective courses credited with ECTS units. They aim at familiarizing students with English as used in chemical engineering through a selection of topics compiled by V. Kazamia.

Department of Informatics
The lingua franca in computer science-along with many other disciplines nowadays- is English. English I, II, III, IV are compulsory courses. The language of science is presented as well as language learning strategy awareness and presentation skill development.
