Nikos Konofaos was born in Corfu, Greece in 1965. He received the Physics Degree from the University of Ioannina, Greece, in 1987 and the PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bradford, UK, in 1993. He is currently a full Professor at the Department of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), Greece. Ηe has served as assistant professor at the Department of Information & Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean, Greece, as adjunct faculty member at the Computer Engineering & Informatics Department, University of Patras, Greece and as Fulbright Research Scholar at the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, University of Maryland, College Park. His research interests include micro- and nano-electronic circuits and devices, optoelectronics and quantum computers. He has published more than 100 technical papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He participates in the technical and scientific committees of international and national conferences, he chaired one international conference and was a technical committee chair for two others, while he is serving as a member of the editorial board of three peer review SCI journals. His service to the academic community includes positions as Laboratory Head, Division Head, Graduate Program Director, Head of the Ionian Islands Committee for Grammar Schools Education, Council chair of the First Grammar High School of Thessaloniki, member of the Research Committee of AUTh, member of several evaluation committees, scientific coordinator of research projects etc. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Fulbright scholar. He enjoys indoor sports, watching football and movies. Apart from Greek, he is fluent in English and handles Spanish and German very well.
