Recent advances in
satellite remote sensing provide the community with an abundance
of low-cost spatial information. My research activities include
the use of satellite images for monitoring the natural and agricultural
environment. I employ digital image analysis techniques and statistical
methods to explore vegetation and surface water parameters. Recent
interests focus on the influence of changing spatial and temporal
scales of satellite observations,
precision farming, and soil and vegetation spectroscopy.

strategies for rural activities of reduced inputs in precision
agriculture (AgroLess)", funded by EU-ERDF. My contribution was on
the definition of methodologies for pilot studies to promote
precision fertilization and irrigation using remote and proximal

common intraregional monitoring system for the environmental
protection and preservation of the Black Sea (ECO-Satellite)",
funded by EU-ENPI. My contribution was on monitoring environmental
parameters with remote sensing and GIS. More information available

"Agricultural water use
estimation in Mediterranean river basins using Earth Observation",
funded by the European Space Agency as extension of GSE-Land (http://www.copernicus.eu/projects/gse-land).
My contribution was on the refinement of tools for estimating
evapotranspiration under Mediterranean conditions.
"Integrated Multiple
Level Wetlands Monitoring System Using Innovative Technologies
(WETMUST), funded by EC-INTERREG (http://www.wetmust.archimed.gr/
and http://www.ptapde.gr/projects/index.php?id=87&lang=en). My
contribution was on the definition of monitoring environmental
indicators for wetlands using satellite remote sensing, low flight
UAV, geographic analysis.
