I am interested in Machine Learning, Signal Processing, and data analysis on Graphs.

Short Bio

I was born in Ierapetra, Crete in 1984. I received my Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in 2007 and my Ph.D. in 2011 from the same institution. My dissertation dealt with the recognition of emotional states from electroencephalographic data using advanced signal processing methods and machine learning. During 2012-2016 I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) where I investigated mechanisms of information processing in hippocampus and worked on analysis of neuroscience data. From 2017 to 2022 I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Information Technologies Institute of the Centre for Research and Technology – Hellas (CERTH) where I worked on biomedical data analysis, computer vision and data processing on graphs. Since June 2022, I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at AUTh. I have published more than 40 papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences in the field of signal processing and machine learning with applications on biomedical engineering, neural information processing and large scale data analysis. I serve as an Associate Editor for IEEE Signal Processing Letters and I am a Senior Member of the IEEE.
