1. Research Interests

My research activity mainly refers to issues of Economic Geology, Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Petrography.

Specifically my scientific activity includes:

1. Geochemical, mineralogical and fluid inclusion studies of magmatic-hydrothermal, porphyry and epithermal type mineralizations. Ore mineralogical study of rare metal (Re, Mo, Te, Bi) deposits.

2. Fluid inclusion studies in geothermal fields, caves and gemstones.

3. Carbon and oxygen isotopes study of carbonate rocks

4. Provenance determination of the raw materials of white marble archaeological artifacts, based on mineralogy and isotopic geochemistry.

5. Environmental geochemistry and mineralogy in sediments and water streams

 

2. Scientific - Laboratory Training

Microscopy on minerals: reflected light microscope, transmitted light microscope, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

X-Ray Diffraction of minerals: X-ray diffractometry (XRD) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Mineral microprobe analysis at the Institute of Mineralogy and Geochemistry. University of Cologne, Germany.

Microthermometry for the study of fluid inclusions at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

From 2020 to 2024 I have given a large number of lectures and talks on minerals, rocks, mineral deposits, ancient quarries, and ancient decorative stones to organizations such as the Friends of Thessaloniki Monuments, the Association of Guides of Thessaloniki, the Office of Environmental Education of the Directorate Primary and Secondary Education of Western Thessaloniki, the 1st PE.K.ES. of Central Macedonia of the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education, the Environmental Education Center of Kilkis (KPE Kilkis), the ELISME, the AMFITH, the Friends of Astronomy Club of Thessaloniki and the Thessaloniki Walking Tours, while I participated in the event "The Harmony of the Sounds and thee Stones ”organized by the Faculty of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in collaboration with the Dean of the School of Sciences at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Aristotle Museum of Natural History in Thessaloniki.
