A few words about me:

Hello! My name is Maria and I'm currently a senior undergraduate at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki studying Physics and Astronomy. I was born in Kozani, a beautiful city pretty much near to the biggest river in Greece, Aliakmon. I'm in loved with Astronomy since I remember myself. With my 6" telescope I spent countless hours observing the magnifisence of our night sky such as, planets, the moon, nebulae and galaxies. I have worked in five research projects: three of them were in collaboration with the Faulkes Telescopes in Hawaii, the fourth was with the Perimeter Institute and the fifth with the University of Crete-Physics Department. Also, I was a teaching assistant on the spring course "Introduction to Astronomy". This spring I will be working on my research thesis under the supervision of Professor Nick Stergioulas which aims to the numerical calculation of the shadow of a black hole by using the Modified Gravity (MOG) theory and to the simulation of the trajectory of a stellar object around a black hole. In my free time I enjoy programming, writing astronomy articles and drawing. Rarely, when I have the chance, I travel around the world capturing with my camera everything that I find beautiful and exotic.
