Ilias Evangelou has studied theology and history in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has continued his postgraduate studies in the same University and he has specialised in the history of the medieval Slavic literature. He took courses of Bulgarian and old Slavonic language and literature in the University “Sv. Kliment Ohridski” of Sofia (1997 – 1999). In 2002 he submitted his Doctoral Thesis in the School of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on the subject: “The translation of the Life of Basil the Younger in the frames of the apocryphal Bulgarian literature in the 13th and 14th century”. Ηe is Professor in the School of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since 2021. His main field of interest is the ecclesiastical literature and intercultural relations between Greeks and Slavs
