George Hassapis or Chasapis received his diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Control Systems Centre of the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology. After completing his military service he joined the Exxon corporation in 1980 where he was involved in the design and development of computer-based instrumentation and process control systems. Since October 1985 he has been employed by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, school of Electrical and Computer Engineering where he holds the position of the Professor. From 1996 to 1998 he was the Director of the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and since 1995 he has been the Director of the Laboratory of Computer Systems Architecture. During the academic year of 1994-95 he was a visiting professor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in USA. Since September 2013 he is the Head of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His current research interests are focused on embedded systems, industrial information systems, and formal verification of systems. He is the author of a book and he has authored or co-authored more than 100 articles in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He has also organized a number of workshops. He is a regular reviewer in many scientific journals, recipient of awards from ABI and listed in four Who's Who biographical volumes. He is member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, senior member of IEEE, and Chartered Engineer of the Engineering Council of U.K.
